How Is the UEFA Country Coefficient Calculated?

The country coefficient decides how many berths each country gets in the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League for the following season. Here's exactly how it's built up from match results.
Points for matches
In the league phase, scoring is simple: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, regardless of competition.
In qualifying rounds and play-offs, points count at half rate: 1 point for a win, 0.5 for a draw. This applies to the country coefficient across all three competitions — it still counts, just at half the rate.
Bonus points after the league phase
Based on final rank in the 36-team league phase, a bonus is added that decreases from 1st place down to last. It isn't a uniform step across competitions — in the Champions League and Europa League the bonus drops evenly by 0.25 points per rank (1st–24th), but in the Conference League the rate of decrease halves from 9th place onward (0.125 points per rank). From 25th place on, the bonus is flat (unchanged) in every competition.

Only the Champions League has a guaranteed bonus — even the last-placed club in the league phase automatically gets 6 bonus points, simply for reaching it. In the Europa League and Conference League there's no such guarantee: a club at the bottom of the table can get a bonus of 0 — the bonus there is purely a reward for ranking, not for participation alone.
How it checks out on a real example
You can work this out backwards from real clubs:
Dinamo Zagreb (Champions League, 2024/25): 2 qualifying wins = 2×1 = 2 points. In the league phase, 3 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses = 3×2 + 2×1 = 8 points. Bonus for finishing in the bottom tier = 6.0 (the Champions League guarantee). Total: 2 + 8 + 6 = 16.0 points — matches exactly what the table shows.
Fenerbahçe (Europa League, 2024/25): 2 qualifying wins and 1 draw = 2×1 + 1×0.5 = 2.5 points. In the league phase, 4 wins, 5 draws, 3 losses = 4×2 + 5×1 = 13 points. Ranking bonus = 1.25 points (no guaranteed bonus in the EL, purely rank-based). Total: 2.5 + 13 + 1.25 = 16.75 points — an exact match again.
The country coefficient for one season
Add up the points of all of a country's clubs for that season and divide by the actual number of clubs that country entered in European competition (not a fixed number).
The 5-year country coefficient
A simple sum of the last 5 single-season coefficients — this is what decides the access list (how many teams go where next season).
European Performance Spot
The two countries with the best single-season coefficient (from the immediately preceding season, not the 5-year average) get one extra Champions League berth for the following season.
